Privacy Policy
Night Sky Map for Android · Last updated 2 November 2026
This policy explains how the Night Sky Map app ("the app"), published on Google Play by Cong Huy Co., Ltd ("we"), handles information. In short: we do not collect, store or share any personal data. The app has no ads, no analytics, no account and no sign-in.
Information processed on your device
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your device location (or a place you enter by hand) to calculate the sky, rise and set times and satellite passes for where you are. The location is processed only on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Camera. If you turn on the camera overlay, the camera image is shown live behind the sky labels. It is not recorded or uploaded. A photo is saved only when you tap the save button, and then only to your own device gallery.
- Motion and compass sensors. Used live to point the map where your phone is aimed; nothing is stored.
- Notifications. If you set reminders for sky events, they are scheduled on your device.
- Settings and saved places are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Android may include them in your device backup if backup is turned on in your system settings.
Network use
Star, planet and constellation data are built into the app, so the sky map works offline. The app connects to the internet only when you tap Refresh on the Satellites page, to download public orbital data from CelesTrak (celestrak.org). That request does not include any personal data from the app; like any web request, it reveals your IP address to CelesTrak's servers. See CelesTrak's own policies for how they handle server logs. Links you open (for example this website) open in your browser.
What we do not do
- No advertising or advertising ID
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties
- No accounts, purchases or payment data
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Your choices
You can deny or revoke the location, camera and notification permissions at any time in Android settings; the app keeps working with a place you enter by hand. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
